Professor Laurie McMahon – 07831 260803

Laurie is Professor of Strategy and Organizational Design at the Cass Business School, London and Co-Founder and Director of The Realisation Collaborative – an independent organization that specialises in helping organisations, teams, Boards and partnerships develop creative responses to their environmental challenges through the use of simulation and other behavioural modelling techniques. He has extensive experience in management, organisational and system development and change across a broad range of public and private sector organizations organisations both in the UK and overseas.

In his previous lives Laurie co-founded the Office for Public Management (OPM) and then with Sarah Harvey, created Loop2. He was a Fellow at the King’s Fund, a senior consultant in overseas healthcare management and in academic roles ran ground breaking post graduate management programmes for health care managers and professionals.

Laurie’s main interests are in strategy development and implementation, organisational design and delivery, engineering large-scale organisational change and the use of behavioural modelling to understand complex ‘futures’. He originated the use of behavioural simulations in the NHS as co-designer of the ground breaking ‘Rubber Windmill’ project in 1990. Laurie’s recent work includes designing and facilitating challenging public consultation events, supporting commissioners and providers in engineering radical whole system service change and working with the Boards of health and care providers to respond to the challenges of delivering more high quality services for less. Most recently he has been helping clients understand and then build the organisational platforms required to carry population based integrated care. Laurie is a member of the faculty that designed and delivered the NHS Top Leaders Programme for the NHS Leadership Academy.

In his spare time Laurie dreams about sailing if he had a little more spare time.

Dr. Sarah Harvey – 07866 513327

Sarah is the Co-Founder and Director of the Realisation Collaborative and an honorary professor in public health and primary care at City University. She is a qualified executive coach and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Sarah’s earlier career included a post as advisory to the Health and Social Services Select Committee as it was then!) and health and social care consultancy at the Office for Public Management and other mainstream consulting organisations. Sarah has also held Director posts in acute, primary care, community and mental health services organisations.

Sarah has led the design of many of our realisations on diverse topics such as the delivery of end of life care, health and social care integration and understanding the role of Police and Crime Commissioners. Her wider work has included designing and facilitating effective processes for involving the public and patients involvement, supporting Sir Robert Francis’ review of Mid Staffordshire Hospitals and more recently the Freedom to Speak Up review.

Sarah’s happiest when she is muddy – messing about in the garden or allotment and horse riding.

Jacob McMahon

Jacob is the Realisation Collaborative’s research lead – skills that he has honed whilst studying politics and history at the University of Sussex. Jacob has worked as a Business Development Advisor for Nuffield Health’s Brighton Hospital and has had various other temporary jobs that he’d rather forget about. Outside work Jacob’s obsessions are playing rugby and plotting to break the world record for stacking Flexifoil kites.
